What The World Needs Now – Is Love Sweet Love

July 24th, 2010 by Lisa Molina

I was all geared up to post about Lead generation; the first steps to success as an entrepreneur,  and got the news of my hometown of Manchester, Iowa, being flooded.

The rains have created floods, causing the dam to break resulting in devastation to many families.  It’s been heavy on my heart all day.  And has everything else seem less important in comparison.

This is where people can celebrate the very fact they are alive!  But for many, it brings this question to my mind;  where does one find hope – when all hope is gone?

I mean, everyone of us go through adversities.  Some we knowingly or UNknowingly create for ourselves… more on that in another post.  But what about the adversity that comes from good ‘ole Mother Nature?  My heart hurt after seeing the pictures today.  Many people out of homes, losing everything.  Many others having their businesses ruined.  I have, personally, not gone through a devastation like this.  Last summer my parents had a tornado run across their farm just outside of Manchester, Iowa.  Leaving only the house and taking out sheds, the barn,  and 60+ trees.  They were lucky.

In trying times, we can turn to our faith, we can rely on and turn to support from others, and ultimately, we must rely on our own ability to pick up the pieces and move on.

I know they say time heals all wounds.  but who has time?!   I have often thought, what the world needs now, is love sweet love.

I feel helpless to the group who is lost without their homes and businesses and others who have damage to their homes and belongings.  It had me compelled to write this blog post.  I believe in the power of prayer/ and the power of positive thought. I thought perhaps this blog post could be directed with intention to send love via thought and prayer to assist those who have suffered from a crisis with mother nature.

Providing the thougths of courage could perhaps be the one thing that assists a person who feels all hope is gone.

In a world that is full of adversity, what ways do you find courage at times that seem hopeless?  Perhaps you have a personal experience or a way that you rely on to move forward.  Please post your words of wisdom, and then feel free to tweet, so others can benefit from your strength.  and I too will be grateful to pass on the love.

Star Spangled Banner – Let Your Freedom Ring

July 3rd, 2010 by Lisa Molina

Our King quit ruling our country.  And our king wanted to be another country’s king.  That is why our country is not ruled anymore.  And our country is now Free.

Skye Molina – July 3rd, 2010  (age 5)

Today Skye told me the story above and wanted me to act out a scene with him for Bob (Dad).  He had me tape the flag he got from the hardware store up on his bookshelf.   He had me be England and he was American.  We fought in a pretend battle (with swords) where he took me down and conquered me, and Skye then stood under the American flag.

Then he requested I write down all the words of the Star Spangled Banner, as he said them to me.

“I know what perilous means!  It means dangerous!”

Bob and I sat in a bit of amazement as Skye drew us a picture  of ramparts…when we asked him, what does “ramparts” mean.  (we had to look it up!)

What a beautiful reminder of what freedom means.

Just the night before at bedtime, Skye asked us what if he doesn’t know what he wants to do with his life.  Bob reassured him with, you have a lot of years to know.  I felt a bit more inquisitive as to why he was asking the question.  I asked him what he meant, and he kept asking me questions like, “do people get to do what they want to do?”  I let him know, he really does get to choose what he wants to do with his life, and although some people will act as if they don’t have a choice, the beautiful thing is, they do.  ”and so do you.”  He was satisfied with that, and drifted off to a peaceful sleep.

Recognizing now, why he was asking me the question,  It always amazes me how he sees so much.  Today he served as an amazing reminder to what the 4th of July represents.

This weekend is symbolic to celebrating Freedom that the US of A is free, and without a king to rule over us.

Although his inquiry to me last night posed an important question…… are we Really Free?

To me Freedom starts from within.  (Easy for me to say, now, that others have been willing to fight the  battle to keep my country free!)  In your world, do you have a ruler or is your mental space (aka: country) free?   For so many, freedom is quite the elusive word, yet it seems to be what everyone is, still today, going for.

I do know that in order to have our own freedoms, we must be able to clearly define what that means.

How would you define your  Freedom?
